Monday 24th December 2001 PAUL LEE BECOMES A ROBIN FOR 2002! YOUNG England international Paul Lee has become the latest new signing for Swindon Robins...
The Nottingham-based rider arrives as Blunsdon after a year in the Elite League with Coventry and he is on loan from Swindon's Premier League rivals Sheffield. Lee won the Premier League with the steel city side in 1999 and started his senior career with Long Eaton in 1997. Now he is looking forward to a full-time return to Premier League racing with Swindon where he joins a new-look squad. Promoter Peter Toogood said: "Paul has a lot of potential and hopefully a move to Swindon will help him realise that. "His signing means we are continuing with the theme of youngsters in our revamped squad. The likes of Chris Neath, Ritchie Hawkins and Oliver Allen all have big futures in the sport and Paul also fits into that category. "I've seen him have some good meetings at Swindon and I'm sure he can do a good job for us, he is capable of challenging for a heat-leader role. "He's currently in Australia so when he returns for the start of the British season he should be 100 per cent racefit. "The team is coming together nicely and I'm excited by the fact that we have a lot of youngsters in the side because it will give everyone at the club a lift."
